VDH-OMHHE is dedicated to our vision of health equity for all Virginians. Our mission is to identify health inequities and their root causes and promote equitable opportunities to be healthy. We achieve this goal by:
Analyzing data to characterize inequities in health and health care
Promoting equitable access to quality health care and providers
Empowering communities to promote health equity
Influencing health, health care and public policy in order to promote health equity
Enhancing the capacity of public health and our partners to promote health equity
OMHHE seeks to address those social and economic policies and practices that create barriers to health. OMHHE works to increase and sustain funding, foster community empowerment, utilize accurate data, and educate and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
